Tom and I spent most of the day Thursday and Friday at a
local hospital as he had outpatient tests being done. Don’t worry, nothing bad (we hope!). He has heart trouble and several years ago he
was hospitalized for surgery to have a stent placed in his heart. That was a little frightening as he had a 90%
blockage at the time. Since then he has
been doing good and we are quite grateful for that! Every year he has to have a series of tests
done in the hospital. They tell us to
allow two days for these tests, but in the past it has always been completed in
just one day because he was doing so well.
This time it did take two days and that does have us a little worried. They indicated to us there was something seen
that concerned them but we have to wait until he sees his cardiologist in a
week and a half to find out what is wrong.
I keep telling myself if it was anything serious, they would have moved his
appointment up to an earlier date.
Right?
This is the first time we have been in a hospital since Covid hit the country. It will be fine with me if we don’t have to go back to one for a long time! It was like entering a high security military base with all the required Covid precautions. I did have to go with him so I could drive him home after the tests. There were all kinds of signs outside the hospital about the requirements you must meet to go inside. Immediately inside the door we had to answer questions such as “Have we been around anyone that had Covid?”, “Have we traveled anywhere recently?”, etc. We were already wearing masks which are now required everywhere in our county but especially in the hospital. They took our temperature using a forehead style thermometer and then put a sticker on each of us indicating we could proceed to the next station. We went through three stations before we made it to cardiology. Each time we moved forward someone went with us because no one was allowed to walk around the hospital alone due to Covid cases in the hospital. I must admit it was all a bit unnerving.
I have been meaning to ask here on a post how everyone is doing with the new blogger? I changed to it a couple of weeks ago and for the most part I am fine using it. I’ve been able to do everything I’ve needed to do with no problems. The only thing I really don’t like is the constant “Redirect Notices” I get every time I try to view someone else’s blog. I click on “Reading List” on the lower left side and it brings up the list of blogs I follow with no problem. However, when I click on the blog title I want to see it brings up this “Redirect Notice”.
I then have to click on the URL (I removed the URL from this copy) for that blog and it takes me there. Is everyone else getting this also? It’s not a big deal but it is a bit of a nuisance to have to take that extra step. I tried searching all over blogger to find out why it did this but never could find a reason. It is simple enough to go back to Legacy Blogger however, I wanted to give this one a chance. I have also heard that the Legacy Blogger may be deleted but I don’t know if that is correct or not.
Any other opinions out there about the New Blogger? Is everyone getting the “Redirect Notices”?
I do think if it was anything very serious, they would have had Tom see the dr. right away or admit him. That has been our experience with a couple different things. I will add you guys to my prayer list.
ReplyDeleteI have not went to the new blogger...and a big part of the blogs I visit, I visit from memory...all I have to do is type the first letter or two in and the whole URL appears. I visit a lot from my phone...
Thank you Rose, I appreciate your kindness. I'm doing okay with the new blogger other than the redirect notice I was talking about. That is just an extra step that is a bit of a nuisance. You are good if you can remember all the blogs you follow and bring them up so fast. I follow a lot of blogs and like to go to them through blogger so I can see who has posted recently. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
DeleteI think you are right, Bonnie; if the tests showed something time-sensitive they would have either given your husband a much quicker appointment or admitted him. Good luck, anyway, because we all need good luck for health issues :) It surely must have been strange to be taken from one place to another and submit to so many checks, but on the other hand, it means they are doing the things they need to do to keep patients safe. And that's comforting.
ReplyDeleteIt's my understanding from reading the entire Blogger notice that legacy Blogger will not be available to anyone after the end of this month. If you click on "read more" of the notice, and go to the last couple of paragraphs, it spells it out.
I didn't notice the redirect issue with new Blogger but I don't think I tried to use the reading list the one time I tried it. I'd better hop to it! We only have a couple of weeks left to give out input about the new version.
Thank you Jenny. Yes we all need luck with health issues, especially as we get older! I do know the hospital was doing what they needed to do to keep everyone safe and I am thankful for that. I think it just gets to me sometimes when I see the big increase we have had in Covid here in the past month.
DeleteI need to go back and re-read the blogger notice again because I think I missed the part about Legacy going away permanently but several people have mentioned that. I'm okay with the new blogger for the most part. I think they just need to clean up a few things.
Praying for you and your husband as you await the test results. I believe they would have contacted you to come right in if anything serious was wrong. I have tried the new blogger and I too got the redirect message. In time, maybe blogger will correct that step, as it is a nuisance! I hope you have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so sweet Mildred, thank you. I am hoping that he may just need a change of medication or something like that. So you did get the redirect notice too. I have not heard many others mention it and I was wondering if it was something with my computer maybe. Hopefully they will correct it. I am glad the other changes seem to be fairly minor. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Mildred.
DeleteI think they may be practicing what's now called an abundance of caution about your husband's health. Try not to worry too much. Clearly they're not seeing an emergency situation.
ReplyDeleteI've been using new blogger successfully for several weeks, and they've been making all kinds of adjustments in the background. There have been at least three changes to uploading pix but I've managed to puzzle them out.
That redirect message is annoying. You've already told it where you want to go. Now you have to tell it again! It didn't listen the first time. But all in all there are advantages to the layout for use on the phone, better spacing allowing for small screens.
Old blogger will be gone by the end of July, a three month overlap, very fair and these things go.
It is always better to be cautious as you say. Thank you for your reassuring words!
DeleteI have heard there are advantages for phone use in the blogger changes and that is good for many people I'm sure. I have been able to figure it out so far without any problems. I thought I saw some changes on uploading pictures like you mentioned. Yes, the redirect situation is a bit of a pain. Hopefully they will get that corrected soon.
I hope everything is okay. Bummer you have to wait so long to hear, but that's how they do things. If it was really serious they would have bumped up the appointment, I agree. With my son's heart issues since birth I have been around a lot of testing and office visits and hospitals. Never is fun and with Covid it is all a different routine now, too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't switched to the new blogger. I'm waiting till they make me do it--LOL! Other people have had a lot more issues than you have so you give me hope. ;)
I know you have gone through a lifetime of hospital visits with Dagan's heart problems. It seems like there are always questions doesn't it?
DeleteI've been able to figure out the new blogger fairly well and I think you will too. That redirect thing is just a bit of a delay but nothing serious.
Waiting on test results is a special kind of hell. That was one of the hardest things for me when my husband had cancer.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything is fine, and I think if they had seen anything too urgent they would definitely have had him back sooner. In the meantime, try not to worry and take care of each other!
I guess the new blogger will just take care of itself. I haven't bothered with it yet!
I know you went through a lot with Gregg's cancer. I lost a brother and my mother to cancer and yes, that does put you through hell. I can be a worrier and I know that is not a good thing but like you said they would have moved his appointment up if it was too bad.
DeleteThe new blogger isn't bad. I imagine they will get the kinks out of it eventually.
I hope all goes well with the follow up appointment Bonnie, probably the doctors have time on their hands at the moment and want to fill that time.
ReplyDeleteThe redirect thing on the new blogger was irritating at first but I have got used to it now. Otherwise, I don't have any problems with new blogger.
Thank you Rachel. I've done okay with the new blogger too but I was just wondering if others were getting the redirect notice too.
DeleteWaiting for news on medical tests stretches the nerve endings taut. Hoping the visit to the cardiologist goes well--and perhaps only involves tweaking your DH's current care. Sending good thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary. It's always good to hear from you. Do you have a blog?
DeleteSorry. No blog. Up until retirement two years ago, work, business travel and commuting pretty much consumed all my energy, so never started one.
DeleteThat does sound a bit unnerving. My son recently went to the doctor to have an insect bite looked at. It was about 97 degrees out with 90% humidity, and when they scanned his forehead for his temp, it read over 100. They almost didn't let him in. They made him sit and wait until he cooled down, which he did. Eventually.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the new blogger rollout yet. I guess I'll be one of the last ones.
I can see how that could happen since we are having such a hot summer. Right now you have to choose to try the new blogger but I understand eventually you won't have a choice.
DeleteHope things turn out OK for Tom and you Bonnie. It must be a worrying time for both of you. Haven't noticed the redirect notice on Blogger.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simone. If you are using the old blogger you won't see it. Hopefully no one will see it much longer if they fix it!
DeleteLike the others here have said, I am also sure that it is nothing too serious, they just want to make sure not to overlook anything, given your husband's health history. I am still on the old blogger, waiting for it to change automatically.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping that it is nothing serious too. The old blogger is supposed to change the end of this month. I guess we will see. I'm doing okay with the new one other than the one minor notice that pops up. I hope you and O.K. had a nice weekend!
DeleteBefore the technician starts a vein scan I am told I must understand if they find a clot, I will not go home, I will go straight to the hospital. So far I have not gone to the hospital. I think if what they are following for your husband looked bad, he would go straight to the hospital.
ReplyDeleteAs for the damned redirect, I took a screen shot and sent it to the complaint center. Since then I don't remember the complaint line showing up, but I'll look again.
I think you are probably right about how the hospital would handle things. They didn't remove the redirect after you sent them a copy did they? I know it's not a big thing but it gets aggravating! Other than that I'm okay with the new blogger.
DeletePraying
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSending you good wishes and hoping it’s not serious, either.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of sticker? Was it a fun yellow smile face sticker? That would be cool.
I haven’t tried the new blogger. Hubby has and didn’t like how the comments were set up. So I’ll likely not use it either, because I take the time to read and answer comments, so this feature is important that it works.
Hi Ivy! You are right, they should use fun stickers! But no, it was just a plain one and they wrote the date on it. Oh well. I'm okay with the new blogger except for the redirect notice and that is just an extra step. I've not had any problems receiving and answering comments but it could be affected by the browser you are using.
DeleteFun stickers would be great. Tim didn't have any redirect issues that I know of but he didn't like how the comments were bunched together, I believe was the issue and for me, I'm not into an extra sorting step.
DeleteI'll see Tom's stent and raise him four. That's right, I have five stents in my coronary arteries. They were put there three years ago this month, and I have never been asked to come back for any tests. I do have a consultation with my cardiologist every six months (and have since my 1996 heart attack) but I don't have an EKG every time.
ReplyDeleteMy problems with New Blogger are probably not yet over as the journey is only beginning! For more details on my particular problem prior to my latest post, see my reply to your comment over on my blog. (I don't want to repeat everything here.)
I forgot to say that I never get the "Redirect" message, but then I don't use the Reading List either. I do what Rose in the first commentup above does,, I type in the first few letters of the blog's actual name and the predictive text fills in the rest.
DeleteWow, five stents! I would say that is five more than anyone wants to have except for the fact that they do improve your quality of life. Tom has some other health issues and that is probably why he undergoes a series of tests every year plus he does see his cardiologist twice a year also. It sounds like you are doing well, at least I hope that is the case.
DeleteIf you don't use the reading list then you would not get the "redirect" message. I like the reading list because it helps me to keep up with the blogs I follow in the order in which they are published. I've done fine with the new blogger except for the "redirect", but if I had a choice I prefer the old blogger. Supposedly the old one is going away the end of this month.
DeleteLike rachel
ReplyDeleteI hope things go well too xx
Thank you John, and thanks for stopping by my blog.xx
DeleteI don't use a reading list and I also have seen any redirect notices. I just go to a person's blog from their messages they leave me on my blog. Hope all goes well for Tom. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope the kids arrived home okay!
DeleteThey did!!
DeleteG'day, Bonnie. Remain positive....my positive thoughts are flying your way. Going to a hospital these days is almost like being in between a 'rock and a hard place". , Take good care of yourselves.
ReplyDeleteHi Lee and thank you for your positive thoughts! We are staying positive and find it a little easier to do so now that we are away from the whole hospital scene. I think those places will put anyone's nerves on edge these days.
Deletehopefully quickly return to normal, greetings from me have a nice weekend
ReplyDeleteHello and thank you!
DeleteYes I'm having that redirect link every time I go onto another blog too. A bit irritating I have to say. I've been using the new blogger layout as soon as I could because I knew they'd faze out the old one, they always do! I used to like the way you could drag and drop a photo on your post and now you can't.
ReplyDeletePraying for Tom.
That redirect is a pain. I'm hoping they will fix it. Thanks for your prayers. They are appreciated.
