Today is our 41st wedding anniversary. We were married on January 30, 1980 in the East Prayer Chapel at Unity Village, Missouri. Unity Village is the world headquarters of the Unity Church and their buildings and grounds are beautiful. Since we were married in January you can see the whole area was decorated white for us!

We had a small, simple and inexpensive wedding in the small chapel on the side of the much larger church. We were married by a wonderful lady by the name of Hypatia Hasbrouck. One of my favorite books is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and she included excerpts from his writings on Love and on Marriage in our vows.

Last year on our 40th anniversary we had originally planned on going out to eat as we usually do on our anniversaries but Tom got very sick with the flu so we were unable to go out. Then soon after that the pandemic hit and many restaurants closed and we stayed in most of the time like everyone else. This year we are going to have a nice dinner from a favorite Italian restaurant. We have decided to get take-out from the restaurant and enjoy it at home.
As I’m sure many of you will agree, it is funny how time
passes. On one hand 41 years is a long
time, while on the other hand it can be just a blink of the eye.
How young you were! Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne. I was 27 and had two young boys from a previous marriage. Time sure moves fast, doesn't it?
DeleteHappy Annie, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThank you Boud!
DeleteHappy anniversary! You were so 1980 ish!
ReplyDeleteThanks Red, yes that was very 1980's!
DeleteHappy Anniversary!! What a beautiful church...maybe next year you can celebrate with a dinner out!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie! Yes, I hope by next year we can all do a lot of the things we used to do!
DeleteYou look so young and sweet in your photo. Yes, 41 years is in some ways a long time and yet it passes in the blink of an eye. Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet to say that. Age does have a way of sneaking up on us. Thank you for your good wishes!
DeleteHappy anniversary! Yes, time flies by, doesn't it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita! Yes, time flies a bit too fast!
DeleteHappy anniversary to you both, days go slowly, weeks quicker and years just fly by, 37 years for us.
ReplyDeleteI love that saying. I've never heard it before and yes the years do fly by. Congratulations on your 37 years!
DeleteHappy Anniversary and I hope you enjoyed your meal. That is a lovely photo of you both.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane! We did have a nice meal last night and I even have some left for today. I hope you are having a nice weekend!
DeleteI only saw your post this morning, so I am a day late, but still: Happy Anniversary! You look such a happy couple there. I hope your Italian takeout was delicious, worthy of the occasion!
ReplyDeleteThank you Meike! Our special meal was wonderful and accompanied by a nice bottle of wine. I hope you and O.K. had a wonderful weekend!
DeleteHappy Anniversary Bonnie. What a beautiful dress. And a lovely photograph of you both and the officiator with the wonderfully unusual name. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel. My dress was a simple one, just what I wanted. The lady that married us was very special. When I mentioned the book The Prophet to her she knew exactly what I would like included in the vows. She had even done a similar ceremony for her son. xx
DeleteHappy Anniversary to you both. It's nice to celebrate, but being together is the main thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan, and of course you are right. It is the time together. I hope you are well.
DeleteHappy Anniversary, Bonnie and Tom! Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary! I hope you are having a good weekend!
DeleteHappy anniversary to you and Tom! Our next one, in May, will be number 58 for Ellie and me. You guys are just kids!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your good wishes! Congratulations to you and Ellie for coming up on your 58th! May will be here before you know it!
DeleteHappy Anniversary Bonnie & Tom! Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Charlie! It's good to see you here!
DeleteHappy Anniversary! Thanks for sharing the photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer! I hope you are having a good weekend!
DeleteHappy Anniversary. Another January wedding.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless.
Did you get married in January? You don't see a lot of January weddings. We have always been somewhat unconventional and it was a good time for us. Thanks for your good wishes!
DeleteBelated congratulations on your 41st wedding anniversary Bonnie. I hope that the Italian meal was scrumptious. Thank you for sharing the lovely wedding picture... and there's Hypatia Hasbrouck! That's a hell of a name isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind wishes!
DeleteHappy anniversary! I wish for you many more years together. I hope the takeout was delicious, too...
ReplyDeleteThank you Rose, we had a nice evening. I hope you two are well.
DeleteHappy anniversary! Yes, it's CRAZY how fast time seems to go by.
ReplyDeleteTime does go by crazy fast for sure. It's good to hear from you, I appreciate you good wishes!
DeleteCongratulations! Yes time is strange, sometimes the days in lockdown seem to go very slowly, but the years fly by. I hope your Italian meal was lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you have a great birthday tomorrow!
DeleteCongratulations. Time is strange isn't it? No matter what we think of it, it passes on.
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, thanks for stopping by. Time certainly is strange, sometimes so slow yet ultimately quite fast.
DeleteCongratulations for the other day!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist googling Hypatia Hasbrouck. She wrote a book - The Handbook of Positive Prayer.
Thank you! Hypatia Hasbrouck is an interesting person and quite involved in the Unity Church. She knew exactly what I was interested in for our vows when I mentioned The Prophet.
DeleteHappy anniversary!! I hope you and Tom had a lovely meal and a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We had a nice evening. You take care.
DeleteVery belated Wedding Anniversary wishes Bonnie! Beautiful bride! A wonderful photo with all three of you smiling. x
ReplyDeleteThank you Simone!
DeleteHello Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
We too were married in 1980. A vintage year!
In these days of marriages lasting days rather than years, this is a wonderful achievement and milestone. One learns so much about oneself and one's partner over the decades and how wonderful is that.
Wishing you many more years of joy and happiness.
Why thank you! How nice to know another couple married in that vintage year. I appreciate your kind thoughts!
DeleteG'day, Bonnie...I'm running behind with my reading of, and commenting on blogs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! When my now late ex-husband and always very good friend and I married, we, too, used those words of Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet". Our wedding ceremony was simple, and small, too...just as we wanted it to be...on Sunday, 21st March, 1976. We were married by a Marriage Celebrant...at the home of Randall's parents, with immediate family and a few close friends present. It was a fun, party afternoon.
Happy Anniversary to you and Tom...take good care the both of you. :)
It sounds like you had a wonderful ceremony! I love The Prophet and many of his words are perfect for a wedding. Thank you for your good wishes Lee!
DeleteHappy belated anniversary. I loved seeing your wedding photo and where you were married. We married later in life and our 29th anniversary is this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mildred! Happy 29th this year to both of you!
