Still Here

I’ve certainly not been much of a blogger this month.  It’s been two weeks since I’ve written a post and this past week I’ve not been commenting on other blogs much either.  We’ve been busy and out with appointments almost everyday but nothing exciting to write about.

My sweet girl, Sophie

Tom is still not driving due to his equilibrium problems, so I’m driving him to his cardiac rehab appointments three days a week.  In addition to that we’ve each had other medical appointments, so it does keep us busy.  He is scheduled to have an MRI this week to try and find out the cause of the equilibrium issues.  If we could get that cleared up he would be able to do more and feel better.  The hearing loss may be permanent but we will see.  Sorry, I don’t mean to complain.  Mainly I wanted to let you know I’m still here even though I have been an errant blogger!

The past couple of weeks we have had wonderfully cool Fall weather!  After our extremely hot summer, it has been a joy to have Fall start almost on cue the first week of September.  This past week we’ve seen rain almost every day but that is okay for it was needed.  As a result the grass has grown like crazy and I have just gotten done mowing it.  August was so hot and I didn’t feel well, so I hired a neighbor boy to cut our grass for the month.  It has become much more difficult for me to do yard work when we have temperatures in the 90's F.  It used to never bother me but it sure does these days!  Now that we have some cooler days, I’m hoping to get caught up with some needed yard work.

Zeus, about ready for a nap

I tried to start a jigsaw puzzle I’ve been wanting to do, but after three slow starts I gave up and packed it up for another time.  I just couldn’t concentrate on it plus my vision has not been very cooperative for a challenging puzzle.

Our son gave us an Amazon Echo Dot or Alexa, smart speaker/virtual assistant.  We have actually been having some fun with it as well as finding it handy.  I will write more about it on my next post.

I apologize to all my blog friends for not commenting much recently.  Things sometimes catch up with a person as I’m sure you understand.  I admire all of you that manage to write a post several times a week or even every day as many of you do.  You are all amazing!  I hope you all have a wonderful start to the week and enjoy whatever beautiful Fall weather you have at the moment!

  1. G'day, Bonnie..firstly, you have no reason to apologise. Secondly, in my opinion, you are not complaining. With so much going on in your lives, you need a medal for finding the time to write this post, my dear! :)

Zeus has the right idea. I think he and my two, Remy and Shama, having been passing notes to each other!!!

    Take good care.:)

    1. Thank you Lee! I always want to do more than I seem to have time to do. Yes, I think our furry babies can teach us a lot about napping! You take care of yourself too and give my love to Remy and Shama!

  2. Don't worry about being too busy to post or comment on other blogs. Life just gets too busy sometimes. When my husband had cancer that year was my lowest as far as posting frequency....sometimes you have to concentrate on what's in front of you day to day and let everything else go! We'll all be here when you have more free time! :)

Your cats are so cute! I love the first picture of Sophy. Have a great week and good luck to Tom. Hang in there, you two!

  3. Blogging takes time, which you don't always have busy. I'm in awe of bloggers with busy lives who post something every day.

    1. You are correct Tasker, blogging does take time, at least for me. I too am in awe of those that post every day. Thank you for stopping by Tasker!

  4. I've been there. Done that. Sometimes the blog gets pushed aside. However , that is fine. The important thing is that you look after yourself.

  5. Don’t feel bad —it has happened to all of us. I think bloggers are a resilient bunch who can adapt themselves to most any situation. Just remember, life is what happens to you while you’re making other plans. I will keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers.

Three times a week cardiac rehab sessions can mess up anyone’s schedule. I did it for 18 months.

    1. Thank you for your kind words and your prayers! Yes, life doesn't generally give us a choice about some things. I know you understand the cardiac rehab sessions and how time consuming they can be. I'm thankful he is here to do them but they do play havoc with any schedules.

  6. I'm sorry you and your husband are having medical difficulties, Bonnie. I know how it feels to not have the energy or headspace to come up with a post, and you shouldn't feel you need to do so. I think some people process by writing, and others need to process before they can write, and I know I'm in the second category. Sounds like you might be there too. Thank you for your kind and understanding comments on my recent posts. Wishing you and your husband good luck as you keep doing what you must to take care of your health.

    1. Oh Jenny, I know you do understand the medical situations. Yes, I am one that has to process before I write a post. You help me to understand myself in that situation!

I hope your husband is seeing and feeling some improvement in his health so he can be more comfortable. I think of you both daily and keep you in my prayers. Thank you so much for your kindness!

  7. Our offline lives should always take precedence over our online activities, and there is nothing wrong with not blogging when other, more important things come up. And what could be more important than your health?
I love Sophie's picture! Zeus' hearty yawn is also great.

    1. Thank you Meike for your understanding and kindness! I think I get frustrated with myself when I am not able to do everything I would like to do. I'm sure there is a lesson for myself in there because we do have to keep our priorities. I hope you and O.K. have a very special holiday!

    1. Thank you Rachel. I'm trying to get back in the swing of things although our recent schedule has made it challenging at times. Such is life, and ups and downs are to be expected. I'm really happy to see a bit of cooler weather these days. It's always good to hear from you Rachel!

  9. Zeus and I have much in common these days. I went to lunch, came home and crashed until supper. Let's see if my post time is for 7:12 Eastern daylight.

    1. Yep, I'm Central daylight time and it says 6:12 which is your 7:12. I've been finding it much to easy to doze off in the afternoon lately. It would be okay but sometimes I like to get things done!

  12. Sounds like it has been weeks of running to doctor and rehab visits--awk! I hope they can figure out the hubby's balance problem. I'm back to my once a week on Mondays, as you know. I don't blame you. Sometimes you just can't keep up with everything, I know full well. I hope things calm down for you guys. *love and hugs*

  13. Thank you Rita. It's been hectic since Tom was in the hospital. We have both had so many appointments that it's hard to get the basics taken care of. It's been so nice to see you back blogging again!

  14. The main thing you need to concentrate on is taking care of yourself (and Tom). It is always good to hear from you, but it sounds like life is a tad overwhelming at the moment, so use any available spare time to catch your breath and relax. Easier said, than done, I know. Take care.

    1. Thank you Mary, yes I do get overwhelmed at times especially since I've gotten older. I always love to hear from you and I enjoy seeing you on many other blogs I visit. The blogging community really does have a great group of people!

  15. I am just glad to see a post when you have the time and energy...and mo need to apologize. Appointments wear a person out...almost as if going to work.

And no, you are not complaining.

    Sophie is beautiful!

    1. You know Rose, I never thought about it but going to a lot of medical appointments is a lot like being back at work again! When you retire you get to enjoy not having a tight time schedule but medical appointments bring that schedule back. I know you have had more than your share of appointments with your husband and probably yourself too.

Sophie is my beautiful girl and is very sweet too along with Zeus. You have some very sweet and beautiful cats and grand-cats too!

  16. You have had a lot on your plate Bonnie so it is no wonder that you have been a neglectful blogger. How did you pay the helpful neighbour boy? A glass of milk and a cookie before ruffling his hair?

    1. If you know any young men that will mow lawns for the price of a cookie and a glass of milk let me know! Kids these days want cold, hard cash!
