A Pleasant Walk

Three days a week I take Tom to his cardiac rehab appointments at a small hospital not too far from our home.  The hospital has a very nice walking trail on the grounds for use by both the patients and anyone else interested in a short or long walk.  I've been enjoying walking on this trail to pass the time while he is busy with his appointment.

We are just beginning to see a bit of Fall here and the weather is perfect for walking outdoors.  The trees have not quite started turning yet but I hope to catch them changing soon.  The world has become so crazy this year that I often feel the best when I can be alone with nature, even if it is in the middle of a busy city.  It can be good to turn off the rest of the world even for a short time.

We did have a nice opportunity to visit with Chris and Kristi (my son and daughter-in-law) yesterday.  We usually see them once a month or so as they live in a nearby town and stay busy with their jobs and other activities.  They had us over for dinner and a chance to have some relaxing time together.  Kristi served dinner on their screened in back porch as the weather was so nice.  It was so good to catch up with them, especially since these days it is rare for us to see anyone other than people at medical appointments or the grocery store.

I hope everyone in blog land is doing well.  I enjoy seeing the season change from all the different blogs I follow.  So many of us are in different stages of the changes leading into winter.  Before we know it the holiday season will be here and although it likely won't be quite the same as previous years, I expect to stay busy with the simple preparations I do for my family.  I send my best to everyone here!

  1. Walking where there are trees and grass is good for your spirits. Do your health will benefit while your husband gets his care. Much better than a waiting room.

    1. That is so true - much better than a waiting room! And you don't have to have the covid temperature check, etc. if you stay out of the hospital!

    1. It is a nice trail especially for a small hospital. We had a lot of rain this summer so I'm hoping for some beautiful colors when they start changing.

  6. Good to see you have a little respite in nature with all the stress of life these days. Enjoying some cooler temps here, too. Bliss after such a hot and humid summer. Hope Tom's cardiac rehab is helping him regain some strength. Take care. Stay safe.

  9. That is a lovely area to take a walk. There is nothing like walking in nature to clear ones’s mind and find some peace.

We only see our family when we can be outside. That time may be coming to an end soon. I expect that Christmas and Thanksgiving will just be my husband and I. My daughter and her family In CA won’t be able to come for their usual Christmas vacation and we can’t be inside with the rest of my family because they are all out and about at their jobs and school and it is too dangerous to be around them. Just thinking about it makes me so sad.

    1. I'm so sorry you haven't been able to be with your family. That is the worst thing about this pandemic. We have not been with my kids much at all but we have a few times. My son works at home and is rarely in contact with others.

Thank you for stopping by again, it is good to see you. I'm going to come over to your blog.

  10. Beautiful grounds, conducive to creating a relaxing, calm mood. Peaceful surrounds...peaceful mood. The hospital grounds are lovely...just what the doctor ordered! :)

I love the sound of the screened back porch. A lovely area to enjoy a meal with your loved ones.

Keep taking good care, Bonnie...best wishes and thoughts to you and Tom. :)

  11. Such a pretty, peaceful place to walk. I don't what we would do, without nature and the animals here to keep us busy. Like you, most of our outings are to the grocery store and doctor appointments. I didn't realize I had missed your last few posts. I love those old pictures of you and your cousins. You all look so happy. Reminds me so much of my family. We were always getting together with cousins, and had the most fun! Your cats in the last post are so cute! Will try to keep up now. :) Love, Henny

    1. It's hard to keep up with blogs when we are so busy! I totally understand! I love the way families got together in the old days and those old pictures mean a lot to me. It seems like families don't get together as much these days. Thanks for stopping by, you take care Henny! xxx

    1. Like most of us these days we don't get to see family very often so it is especially nice when we can see them. I would love to take the kind of nature walks that you do but unfortunately I rarely have the opportunity for that and Tom is not able to walk a distance. I do love nature and the more trees the better as far as I am concerned!

  16. I can't say I'm looking forward to winter and the long dark nights, and as we prepare to go into lockdown again I feel it's going to a long few months. I do try to get outside as much as possible because as you say nature heals the soul.
