A Cloudy, Rainy Week

After some beautiful weather last week we have had a long string of dark, rainy days this week.  It is helping to make everything green so there is a bright side to it.

I received this picture from my brother the other day.  It made me want to rearrange all my books into various sentences and phrases!  If you are really bored during this lockdown you could try this:

I resisted the temptation to play with my books and instead decided to make some cookies.  I like to bake but don't do it too often because I also like to eat what I bake!  Tom had been wanting some homemade cookies so I made a batch of oatmeal cookies.  I figured if we are going to take in extra calories it should contain something healthy - right?  In fact you might even say oatmeal cookies are a health food!  Okay, sort of healthy with all that oatmeal.

I did get a little sewing done this week.  I finished making a couple of masks for my youngest son, Sean.  He lives alone and, luckily, has been able to work from home since the pandemic started.  However, they are starting to open up some businesses here and some of them require masks for you to enter.

That is about all that has been going on around here recently.  These dark, rainy days seem to slow things down a bit but they are great for reading and napping.  Sophie and Zeus have taken full advantage of the napping side of things as you can see in this picture of Zeus.  He has his very own cat quilt and he loves to crawl under it for a nice long nap.

I promise you, our cats are not spoiled, much.  Everyone take care!

  1. You made me think of our several cats who did crawl under the covers to go to sleep.

    1. Cats know comfort and they like to be warm! I have had other cats that did the same thing. I made our two cats their own quilts and while Sophie sleeps on her quilt, Zeus prefers to get under his. He also likes to get under the covers with us. Like I said, he's not spoiled, much.

  3. I wonder if I could make any sort of sentence from my books! I don't think I could make one that made sense. I bet I look after while.

I LOVE Zeus! He so reminds me of a cat I had...

    1. I'm tempted to try and do that with my books now too. Zeus is a real sweet cat and full of love. We always remember our special babies don't we?

  4. What a sweet photo of Zeus! And that book "sentence" is so much fun. I'm the same about baking - only now and then, and we try to make it last. It's awfully easy to take in far too many calories. I need to get some masks made in case we need them as things open up. Stay well there.

    1. Baked goods are a dangerous thing around here! More stores and other places are starting to open here now and some do require masks. I don't know how it will be where you live but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Thanks for the info on the bot! I was beginning to wonder about it. You stay well too.

  5. The book photo is brilliant! It wouldn't work properly with my books, I'm afraid, as many of them are German and their titles do not really allow for the forming of a sentence.
Home-made cookies are the best! I have not been baking at all in months.

    1. Home-made treats are good but I have to be careful to not overdo it!

  6. I did that book poem a while back on my blog. It's fun to prowl around looking for likely titles.

I've had cats who would insert themselves under the covers of my bed. Lovely fur footwarmers. But a bit hairy.

    1. I like sleeping with my cats as long as they are being cuddly and not rough housing!

  7. OMGosh! The books! Everyone needs a creative librarian--LOL!
    Cookies are great comfort food.
Annie is too afraid of being trapped to climb underneath anything or into boxes. That is unlike most cats I have ever lived with. Being a rescue from the wild life in her youth she has different habits and emotional needs. So glad we bonded. She needed an old lady life--LOL! ;) Have a great day, Bonnie! :)

  10. Homemade oatmeal cookies are one of my favorites. My kids like to ruin ours by putting raisins in them. Not a big fan of those things. Yuck. Hope the weather clears up for you soon.

  12. What a clever idea with the books, but I think you need 100's of titles to make it work like that!

My daughter made chocolate chip cookies last week which are hard to resist!

  13. Those library books are great!

I've been mostly baking banana bread but I may try some sugar cookies soon. Or oatmeal, which my husband loves (me, not so much).

    1. Banana bread sounds wonderful! I don't like oatmeal cookies as much as Tom does so if I make that I don't eat too many. Sugar cookies sound pretty good too!

  14. Hi Bonnie, I saw your comment on Rose's blog and thought I would stop by to visit. I have 5 cats, and they are NOT spoiled either! lol Zeus is so sweet under his quilt. How creative with the book titles. You've made me hungry for cookies. Oatmeal was my late mom's favorite. They make the house smell so good. I wish you a nice day. Mildred in Georgia
