Hello!

I’m back!  Well, I haven’t been away but I’ve not been posting much recently.  I’ve felt bad about having this blog and then not writing much this winter.  I’ve even considered stopping blogging but I don’t really want to do that.  This has been a winter of many distractions that have kept me away from the computer.  I’m hoping to change that.

So, what’s been going on this month?  Both of my grandchildren have had birthdays.  Annika turned 26 on the 3rd and Gavin turned 20 on the 15th!  I cannot believe how quickly they have grown to be wonderful, caring, young adults!

The bird feeder stays busy these days!

February has been the month for extreme winter weather for us.  We have had big snows each week.  Our temperatures have stayed below freezing almost constantly which keeps us inside most of the time.  I usually buy groceries each Thursday but all month it seems we have the most snow and ice on Thursdays!  I don’t mind changing my shopping day though as I keep enough food in the house for storms.  We’ve had to change a few medical appointments due to snow and ice but that is not unusual around here.

Our deck has remained snow-covered
except for what the wind blows away.

I love to feed the birds, especially in this weather.  They offer much entertainment for us and our two cats Sophie and Zeus.

Sometimes the squirrels help
themselves to the bird food.

Have many of you gotten started on the Wordle games?  I enjoy doing them especially since it is just one game and done each day.  I have a tendency to start on games and not know when to stop sometimes and Wordle keeps me from going down the “game rabbit hole”!

There is not much exciting to write about at the moment here but maybe that is a good thing!  We are having more snow today so I’ll probably go out tomorrow if the roads are clear.  I’m sure we are all looking forward to Spring but I don’t really mind Winter because there is so much beauty in all four seasons.  Take care everyone and I will try and be back much sooner!

  1. It's great to hear from you! From the size of that squirrel it looks like he's been eating VERY well this winter. Our squirrels are fat and sleek, too. They've trained me to leave walnuts on the back fence for them this year. :)

I just discovered Wordle a few days ago, but I love it! Like you, I'm glad it's one per day and that's it. I have no self control when it comes to stuff like that and I'd burn myself out on it if left to my own devices.

    1. We have no shortage of squirrels around here and I have been known to feed them once in a while too. It's interesting how the animals train us isn't it!

  2. I'm glad to see you back, Bonnie. You've been very much in evidence around my blog, for which I thank you for interesting comments. We've had massive temperature swings. Yesterday nearly 70, today snow forecast!

    1. Hey Doug, it's great to see you! I have a feeling you have had more than your share of snow this winter too. If you like word puzzles you should give Wordle a try, you might like it.

  5. Your squirrel photo could have been taken in my yard. It upsets My Retired Man when he sees that, but not me. They have to eat also and watching them running up and down trees (and bird feeders) is good entertainment for me.

    1. Arleen! It is so good to see you again, I have missed you! I hope you are well and happy. I have to admit I enjoy watching the squirrels as much as the birds. They run and play like crazy all over our yard and trees.

  8. Hello there! I am always happy to see you commenting on my blog, but your own posts are even better :-)
That IS a lot of snow! We've hardly had any, and I am not too keen; it makes travelling so much harder and it just turns to grey-brown slush in town.
The first part of your post made me smile - you try to find MORE time at the computer, while most people will complain about how much time they spend online, and try to get away from it :-D

    1. Hi Meike! Yes, the snow does get a bit messy as it melts. We often have snow as late as March although the weather can surprise you here at times. My problem with the computer is that once I get on it I do spend too much time falling down those internet rabbit holes! I need to spend more time taking care of necessities around here. ; )

  9. It is great to see you back Bonnie with your wonderful snowy photos! No snow here - just lots of wind and rain although today is dry and sunny. Thank you for cheering me on with my new blog. I do Wordle every day and am getting better and quicker at it! I hope you have a lovely weekend. x

  10. Nice to see a new post from you. I'm quite jealous of all the snow, we haven't had any yet here in this part of the UK. Mind you I'm sure the novelty wears off very quickly.

  13. So good to see you back blogging again! You were definitely missed. I decided not to tackle the Wordle craze/phenomenon because I have too many irons in the fire already (said the 80-year-old retired man -- but I HAVE been taking an online course in reading Hebrew, so there IS that).

I shall now go back and read all the comments preceding mine. I reserve the right to leave a second comment.

  15. Birthdays, crazy weather, bird watching (and squirrel)...glad to see you posting!! I have not tried wordle but I keep hearing about people using it every day. I do fall down the simple games on my cell phone rabbit hole sometimes. ;) Have a really nice weekend. :)

  16. It's lovely to see you posting, Bonnie. What great photos, too! That squirrel is very roly-poly :) Best wishes to your grandchildren on their birthdays. Time marches on, doesn't it? Your weather sounds like ours, and looks like it too. I hope you and your husband are well. Getting older is hard, and it seems more so in winter. Take care, my friend.

  20. It is so good to see a post from you...well, two. I wondered what had been going on. We have sure had the Thursday snows, too. We had them 3 weeks in a row. I try to get out beforehand to get in enough catfood, etc to last.

I do a game called wordly that is just one word a day. I can go down a gamehole, too. There was this matching game that I uninstalled simply because it kept me trying to beat the timer.

    1. Hi Rose! We must be in the same line up for those snows because I think you posted about one just about every time we got one as well. This has been a very snowy February for many of us this year.

I understand getting lost in games! It's easy to do as well as getting lost down those internet holes! Take care Rose!
