Bad Blogger!

Well, that’s what I feel like I am lately.  I love following blogs and my intentions are good when it comes to blogging.  I guess I just get sidetracked with other things too much.  Not that there is much going on in my life these days but I do stay busy with many little, mainly unimportant details of life.

I apologize that I have not come back with the results of my recent Summons for Jury Duty.  I would have posted sooner if it was anything of interest.  I had been told to call the night before I was assigned Jury Duty to get a possible recorded message if they no longer needed me.  When I made the call there was only a message telling me to call one hour before the time I was to be there the next morning.  The next morning I called as instructed and was told I did have to be there.  We live in a small town outside the city and I needed to leave an hour before the required arrival time in order to allow for parking and such.  I was headed out the front door when my watch buzzed that I had a text.  I checked and sure enough, it was Jackson County Courts telling me my jury service had been canceled.  Talk about waiting until the last minute, I was halfway out the front door!  Happily, my week had been given back to me plus I can not be called for three more years.  Since they can call you until you are 75 in Missouri and I’ll be 70 this summer, that means I can only be called one more time.  I don’t mean to sound like I don’t want to do my civic duty but I have served jury duty many times since I was in my 20s and I feel like I have done my part!

Overall, April has been fairly uneventful for us.  I’ve been doing a little family history research on Ancestry.  Anytime I do that an hour can quickly turn into a large part of a day as I usually fall into the family research internet rabbit hole!  I enjoy it and occasionally I find something of particular interest.

I hope everyone has been doing well and enjoying spring.  I know many of us have only had a small taste of spring so far but hopefully that will soon change!

Take care my friends!

  1. Always good to read from you, Bonnie! Please don‘t ever feel bad about not blogging. Your blog is entirely yours, it should be a pleasure and not a burden. If you have time and feel like writing, you write - if not, you don‘t!

That‘s quite inconsiderate of the authorities to leave the information about jury duty until really the last minute. What if someone lives further away or depends on public transport to get there, they won‘t make it in time.

    1. Thank you Meike, you are always so kind! I wasn't too surprised to get such late notification about the jury duty. Our court system is incredibly behind since Covid lock down froze the court system for some time. I am glad I received the message before I actually got on the interstate though!

  2. Hi Bonnie! I liked what Librarian wrote, couldn't have said it better myself. You know, the whole time I was reading this I kept thinking of my sister who still lives in the small hometown we grew up in. She is always getting called for jury service! I want to say this is one good thing about living in the city as I haven't been called in 10 years, but I know karma will come and bite me in the you know what. Anyway Bonnie, it's good to hear from you and glad your civic duty is done! 🙂

    1. Doug, you are sure right about karma! But I do know people that want to get called and never do so maybe that is the secret. Thanks for stopping by Doug!

  4. logging takes time. It is also a challenge to find topics that one wants to write about. I think you've done more than your share of jury duty.

  5. They certainly don't give people much of a heads up do they...almost like they expect you to be waiting in the parking lot! Hope you get Spring soon...we might see a touch of Spring later in the week!
FYI did you know with the embed comment form like you have people who use phones or I pads cannot leave you a comment. However if you change your setting to pop up comments they will be able to leave a comment...blogger is up to tricks lately:(

    1. At least we have not seen snow for a bit but now we are getting the heavy April showers. I'm hoping that will usher in spring along with the flowers!

I did not know that about the embed comment form. I guess it was a default setting. I sure don't want to make it difficult for people to comment. I tried changing it to pop-up comments but then I was not able to reply individually to each comment which I like to do. Is there a solution for that other than changing it back and forth after I reply? Thank you so much Connie for telling me about this!

    2. Bonnie, my previous comment here and this one come from my ipad, and I have not had any problems publishing them. So maybe it is not the device but the settings on the devide and/or the browser someone is using that causes them problems.

    3. Thanks Meike! I do know the browser you use can have an effect on things with blogger. I also know blogger has been making a lot of changes lately. Many comments are now going into the blogger spam folder.

  7. You are doing great Bonnie! Both with your "civic duty" AND with your blogging. You have already served jury duty more times than me I think and for me only one of them was the slightest bit interesting. My desire to blog comes in spurts and if you haven't noticed, I do several posts at one time for several days or a week ahead. All of the posts with a 4 am time were done in advance and "scheduled." :-) Then I go several days without posting. :-)

  8. At least you weren't halfway to the courthouse, I guess, but they should give a person more warning.
I am always glad to see a post from you. :)

    1. Part of my problem with writing posts is that nothing much happens in my life these days. I always enjoy your posts Joanne. Oh and thanks for your info on audio books!

  10. I feel you have certainly done your civic duty and then some! I would have been relieved to not be needed this time around, if it was me in your place.

I know what you mean about not feeling moved to write a post. I've had dry spells too. I just don't worry about it anymore and only write if I feel like it. Don't worry about your readers; write for you!

  11. Good to hear your update on the court house duty Bonnie. It was all very last minute instructions! I have never been called for jury service although my brother has been called twice. I enjoy your blog posts when you post and always love to see some photos of your cats. xx

  13. Sometimes you need a little break from blogging...I love blogging...there's always something interesting to learn, like your judging service. We have a lot of honorary services or (honorary posts), for example the Red Cross and in the sports clubs.
All the best wishes to you. Enjoy the spring - that is coming -and Mother's Day. Hug of Viola

  15. Jury service is something I've never had to do. I think I'd be excused now, on account of my circumstances. It's a shame, in a way, as it's always sounded like an interesting thing to do.

    1. I been on jury duty more than my share of times and honestly it is more boring than anything else. There is a lot of just sitting and waiting even when you are on a case. Thanks for stopping by!
