I am still here, which is certainly a good thing! I wish I were better at keeping up with this blog, but I have had a lot on my plate. I’m still dealing with this cancer, and everything that comes with it keeps me busy and at times in bed. Whenever I can, I’ve been reading and enjoying all your blogs.
I’ve been trying to find better ways to manage my health as I also need to help Tom out, not to mention taking care of the house, laundry, bills and so forth. My body does not always agree with me on getting things accomplished so unfortunately a lot goes undone. Can you say messy house!
Last April Tom had a minor heart attack. We were blessed that it was not more serious and he only spent one night in the hospital. He is doing much better, although between the two of us our calendar stays full of medical appointments.
I’ve learned
that ovarian cancer is one that cannot always be cured, especially if diagnosed
at a late stage like mine. I’m coming to terms with living with this as many
women do. Chemo, CT scans, and other forms of treatment have become a way of
life for me, at least for the moment. It’s not the best life but I’m willing to
keep fighting. It is worth it for me to be here and see our family grow and
change!
Speaking of family, I’ll bring you up to date on a few happy things. My granddaughter Annika is expecting their second baby in February! I’m so happy and excited for them and thrilled that I will be able to know a second great-grandchild! My first great-grand, Juniper, turned two last July. She is still as much of a joy as she has always been. Annika and Nick are now buying a house, and we are very happy for them. It’s not easy for a young couple these days but they have worked hard to make it happen.
You may
recall about a year ago my grandson Gavin graduated from the Fire Academy which
is part of a two-year program in an area community college. He has since officially
received his badge and stays quite busy working for the Independence, Mo. Fire
Dept. Of course we are proud of him!

Also, Gavin is now engaged to the most wonderful girl, Amalia. We all love her so much! They have a lot in common since he is a firefighter and she is a paramedic. In fact, that is how they met – on a call!

We still have our two cats, Sophie and Zeus. They bring us each so much love and joy!
There’s not much else to bring you up to date on. I’m still having chemo every three weeks only now I’m on a second kind of chemo. I have it this Wednesday so I’ll try and take it easy for awhile afterwards.
Sending my
best to you all! xxx
Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, lovely to see your blog post this morning when I woke up. How lovely that Juniper is to have a baby brother or sister in a few months and great news that Gavin is engaged and graduated from the Fire Academy. I am sorry you are still doing the round of the chemo and other health problems and I think of you often, always. Rachel xx

DeleteSo glad to hear from you! Sorry you are still battling cancer. It is a long rough road. Wonderful family news, though. Young love and a new baby on the way, too. Don't worry about the house. Take care and do whatever you can. Our priority list gets smaller, but funny how much can wait, right? Take care of yourself and glad Tom is doing well, too. *love and hugs from Fargo*
ReplyDeleteHi Rita! Sorry for all the health problems you've dealt with. I sure hope things improve soon. I'm afraid I will always be fighting this cancer. They tell me when ovarian cancer is diagnosed as late as mine was there is rarely a cure. I'm getting used to chemo every three weeks. (did I just say that!) No matter what I feel blessed to have my family!
DeleteIt's great to see you here Bonnie! I've wondered about you often. Congratulations to your family with all that great news!
ReplyDeleteSending you a big hug from South Carolina, dear friend.
Hi Jennifer, I hope both you and Gregg are doing much better with your dental work. Dental pain is the worst! It is wonderful to hear from you and thank you for that big South Carolina hug!
ReplyDeleteDear Bonnie, I've been thinking about you a lot lately, I was hoping you were okay and I'm glad to see the update and that you're okay, despite everything, you do have a wonderful family that you are blessed with.
