Happy New Year!

I hope this new year has started out well for everyone. I always become a bit introspective on New Year’s Day but I think that is a good thing. I like to reflect on both the past year and the new one. I see the new year as a book of blank pages waiting for me to fill. I always hope each year that I can improve on how I fill those pages!

2023 has not been the best year for us in many ways but I am thankful that we have had some very happy days sprinkled around to help keep us going! My granddaughter, Annika’s wedding provided a great joy for us all. Each family birthday gave us a chance to come together and enjoy each other’s company. There is nothing I love more than spending time with my family. And of course, our two cats Sophie and Zeus always bring us love and happiness.

I look forward to the ways I find to fill these new blank pages of 2024. I have much I want to accomplish and blogging more often is high on my list! Thank you to those who have stayed with me through my blogging absence. I appreciate you! I hope you all find the happiest of ways to fill the blank pages in the book of your new year!

  1. Happy New Year Bonnie! I'm so sorry about your rough year, but I'm glad you had your wonderful family to give you strength. I'm glad to see you posting again, I hope you know that every time I cook rice-a-roni, I say to myself "thank you Bonnie". 😊 Talk to you soon.

  4. Happy New Year, dear Bonnie!
Sophie and Echo? Is Zeus no more?
Like you, I see a new year as a collection of blank pages that it's up to me to fill. Not everything is under my control, of course, but where and when I can, I try to fill those pages well.

The 2023 New Year was tough for me, since it meant the start of the first year in my life that my Dad was not going to be around anymore. I cried more that night than I did at Christmas 2022, when he was gone just 2 months and a bit. This season, Christmas and New Year felt easier again, the grief has lost its immediate rawness although it can still sting at unexpected moments.

    1. Oh my goodness Meike, I can't believe I wrote Echo. We definitely still have our sweet Zeus. Echo was a cat we had before Zeus that looked and often even acted just like him. I am showing my age to switch names like that! Sorry!

From following your blog I would say you do a fine job of filling the pages of your years. You always seem to manage to make the most wonderful use of your free time!

This past year must have been very difficult for you after losing your Dad. Losing a parent is a special kind of loss. Some of that pain stays with us but I have found that with time I remember more of the good times. It is those warm and happy times that our loved ones want us to remember. I send you my best Meike for a good year filled with happy days and memories.
