A New Week

I can not tell you how happy I am to see a new week!  I am in hopes of getting back into a more normal routine after dealing with my husband’s flu all last week.  He is not yet 100% but he is improving and much better than he was at this time last week.

We celebrated a family birthday yesterday.  My beautiful granddaughter, Annika, actually turns 24 today but we celebrated yesterday.  I can not believe I have a grandchild that is 24!  Those years pass by so quickly.  She is a wonderful, loving and kind young lady and we are very proud of her!
My lovely granddaughter, Annika
We are also very happy today because our local Kansas City Chiefs football team actually won the Super Bowl last night!  We live in the heart of the Chiefs Kingdom and it would be an understatement to say most everyone around here is a major fan.  Even watching the game from home last night there were many fireworks going off with each score and when we won the game it was like the Fourth of July around here with fireworks and excitement going late into the night.  Wednesday there will be a big parade in Kansas City and all the area schools and many businesses are closed for a day of celebration.  As I’ve said before, I am not a huge sports fan, but when you live here you can’t help but be a Chief’s fan!
I am hoping to get a little better about blogging as I feel like I have gotten off to a very slow start.  I’m still learning as I go, but I follow so many excellent blogs and I consider them all to be great examples.  I may soon have a post about a new type of jigsaw puzzle I have started.  It is a mystery/escape puzzle and totally new to me so I’ll let you know how it goes!

Take care everyone!

  1. I cannot wait to hear about the Mystery Jigsaw puzzle...I have heard of them but know nothing about them.

I hope the week only improves...it is always so wonderful when everyone starts feeling good again.

    Yeah for the Chiefs!

    1. Years ago I worked a Mystery Puzzle but it did not work out as well on the mystery side of it as I hoped. This one is called an Escape Puzzle but the directions sound like a mystery puzzle so we will see. It was a Christmas gift from my grandson.

Yes, you are so right - it is wonderful when everyone starts feeling better. Tom is still not all the way back but he is doing much better and for that I am grateful!

  2. Congratulations to your team. If it were the Cleveland Indians, I'd be cheering, too. And, not the Browns. I'm not confused.

    1. I understand completely Joanne! I prefer baseball to football any day! My husband is a big football fan so I get exposed to it through him and also just living here in the middle of it!

  3. Birthday wishes to your granddaughter, Bonnie! I think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree (or the grand-tree, as it were). It's good to see positive examples of the next generations coming up :)

That puzzle looks like fun - I am intrigued.

And congratulations to your team for their win! I'm not a big sports fan either but when you live in an area and get to know the players' and coaches' personal stories, it can become like a big family. You see how hard they work, what they have overcome, and hope for them to taste success.

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes for Annika. I know all grandparents and parents will brag on their kids but she really is a good one!

We will see about the puzzle. It could be more difficult that I expected but I hope not.

I can tell you do understand how I feel about the teams here. We hear so much about them and the individual players that you feel like you know them. I've never been a big football person but I can't help but be happy for a team that waited 50 years for this.

  4. Plenty for you to celebrate - your husband getting better, your granddaugher's birthday and "your" team's win! Hooray!
I have seen the mystery escape puzzles and have no idea how they work, so it will be interesting to learn more about them from your blog.
By the way, Ravensburger is a German company; Ravensburg is a town not too far away from where I live.

    1. How interesting that Ravensburg is close to where you live. Do you know if there is a large puzzle company there? They certainly make a large selection of puzzles.

Yes, this week is much better than last week!

  5. Annika is very lovely. and I love her name. We were pulling for Kansas City too. It was a good game. Can't say much for the commercials though, except for the dog that survived cancer. That was sweet. Hope you are having a good week. I am actually doing worse with blogging as time goes by. Sometimes I think it's because there are too many favorite blogs to read and I get overwhelmed. It doesn't take much. :) Love, Henny

    1. I understand what you say about getting overwhelmed by blogs. I really enjoy reading all my favorite blogs and keeping up with my friends but it can be time consuming. I would like to blog more often but I doubt that I'll get to more than once or twice a week. The important thing is to enjoy it. You have a wonderful blog and I know your followers and friends will stick with you whether you post a lot or a little.

I hope you, Poppy and all those sweet furry babies are all doing well! xxx

    1. Thanks Simone! I enjoyed seeing your school picture on your blog today. It can be fun to look back to those old photographs. I have not decided if I like this puzzle yet - we'll see.

  9. I am glad your team has won. I think it is important to have a broad spread of interests and to take an interest in local teams and achievements. It makes for me an interesting person like you. I will only do Ravensburger puzzles. They are the best. I had a mystery puzzle in their mystery series and I wrote and asked for the answer picture, which is an option. I love jigsaws and enjoy them for what they are, and something to pass some time occasionally. I do not want to get into solving mysteries and making them close to impossible. That is not enjoyment for me. I am enjoying your blog and your family news. xx

    1. It has been fun to watch our team work it's way to this victory and now all the local celebration is a blast.

I have done other Ravensburger puzzles and always enjoy them for their quality. I also have enjoyed a series of cat puzzles "The Cats of Charles Wysocki". This mystery puzzle has the solution in a sealed envelope but you have to work the puzzle first which I just started. If the whole mystery side of things takes the fun out of it then I won't do another but I wanted to give it a try. January is usually my month to choose a puzzle as the weather makes it a good month to stay inside. Thanks Rachel. xx

  10. I love that one of the teams players Derrick Nnadi has a foundation and helps the adoptable dogs by paying the fees !
    Happy Birthday to your Granddaughter.
Hope the flu is better. Puzzles are a good way to envelope yourself in something other than problems. Helps the mind.

    1. We have a huge and very good animal shelter in Kansas City and after the Chiefs won the game he paid the adoption fee for every single dog in the shelter!

Thank you for your kind words. My husband is doing better and that helps me to feel better too!

Yes, I enjoy working puzzles once in a while.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  11. What an upbeat way to start a new week with The Chiefs being victorious in Miami. Are you going to get yourself a Chiefs' tattoo Bonnie? Belated birthday greetings to beautiful Annika! Hell, I was 24 once.

    1. I have managed to get by without any tattoos this long so I think I'll pass on doing that! It is almost hard to remember being 24 isn't it?! When I was 24 I already had my two sons, but the young people these days are not in too big of a rush to start a family. Considering everything going on in the world it is probably wise.
